Journalism awards

I just wanted to share some news that I have won two awards for a story that I did right before I had Ben. I actually worked on it for 5 months and was about to finish it when Ben came along. I finished it while he was in the NICU.

Here's a link from The Spectrum's Web site about the Regional award I won:

http://www.thespectrum.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070612/BUSINESS/706120336/1046/CUSTOMERSERVICE02

I won 2nd place for the region in investigative reporting and just received word yesterday that I won 1st place for Utah in investigative reporting.

The Utah Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists is who I will be receiving my 1st place award for the same story on Washington City. I was interviewed by the Ogden Standard Examiner for a column that will be in their Monday paper (and online).

I am thrilled with winning both awards; however, the SPJ award is even more special to me because I was up against all newspaper and television reporters in the state.

It feels so good to be noticed-- even though I don't write full-time anymore.

I am hoping for the same success for my book ventures!!!

Peanuts and Crackerjacks!

Ethan had his first Dbacks experience! He loved watching all the different things going on of course and by the end he was asleep! :)

I got together with Shannon while she was in town for her brother Christian's farewell! Joe had a good time talking with her hubby Mattt who plays for BYU football.

We went to this Bass pro shop place. It was like Disneyland for men, and I had the best time too! There's a waterfall, fishtanks, shooting gallery, fudge shops, and all the outdoor stuff you'd ever want! It's even better than Cabella's!

More Ben adventures...

Here is bath-time Ben wearing his bath robe that is 0-9 months and way to small now. I forgot about this adorable robe until now. I guess the next little ones will enjoy it longer!

Coby put Ben into my scrapbook suitcase thingy and wheeled him around our house. Ben loved it!!

This is how I roll now. I finally moved up from my army crawl to my knees. When I am feeling sneaky, I will get down and crawl low so mom and dad can't see me.

I also went to mom's work the other day to say hello before she had to go to class. I helped her file some really important papers. She pays well, so I can't complain.

I got really, really sad/mad after I ate my yogurt. Mom said there was no more, put the empty container down and when dad showed it to me again-- the sorrow came back and I cried. Do you have any yogurt I can have? I promise I won't tell where I got it.

We can't believe how much Ben has changed. He does something new everyday. He's perfected pulling himself up, opening drawers and cabinets, taking things off shelves, pulling things out of drawers and so on.

He climbed up for the first time tonight. He climbed up on top of one of the crates I have some of his big boy clothes in. He has been lifting his leg up for several days, but finally found something he could climb and before I knew it--- he was on top of it. I couldn't believe it!!!

He's also getting bored with his baby food and likes to eat whatever we eat. I still mostly feed him his baby food and tiny pieces of whatever we're eating. I have also starting adding milk to his bottles to have him fully off formula on his birthday!!! HOOOORRRAAYYY--- NO MORE FORMULA!! Our goal is for him to also be off to bottle then, too.

We're excited about his birthday and we'll be sending out invitations soon. We won't be going to Georgia until July, so we'll be celebrating here on his actual birthday, June 23.

We have a couple of other new pics of Ben on our blog... cobyandjill.blogspot.com.

Hope all is well with everyone!!
